As the loyalists around here may know and recall, I was among the very first to be on the Woodson for Defensive Player of the Year bandwagon. Indeed, it was I who was driving the very vehicle - complete with zero passengers. And also indeed, it was I who even nominated him for consideration for the MVP award - something that would boggle the minds of the weak and confuse the strong.
It took more than a month to reach fruition, but the old dogs in the newspaper business finally decided to start watching Woodson play games and one by one are all trying to cram into my bus. I will not have it. I will not stand for it. Now granted, it may be reassuring to have your opinions and football genius validated by a bunch Favre mongers, but I do not want it in the least. I will probably be demanding a full retraction of these articles as they are clearly violating some sort of copyright and as a free thinking libertarian that just doesn't jive with how I roll.
There are other examples of this heinous behavior, but I needn't go on. Packer related traffic is near sacred and should be treated as such; so I will not be linking any more of this putrocity in this post.
Now, as for Sunday. McCarthy has never really been one to rest players for full games ala the Colts, but you'd have to think that he will be pulling starters throughout the game. I'd prefer it if the starters didn't have to play past the third quarter, as the game should be well in hand by then. Local chatter seems to suggest that this will be a week 17 preseason game - a Matty Flynn and Matt Leinart reunion of beautiful days gone by, when Flynn was handing off to a white running back and when Leinart did not yet know to scent of Paris Hilton's undergarments. Oh yes, happier days, indeed. Luckily for all involved this scenario need not play out and it should be a decent romp by our Packers, with Woodson once again proving that he is deserving of the PoTY trophy by shutting down Fitzgerald and Boldin - one with each of the arms God bestowed upon him.
