Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has awful writers...

Normally, we are not one's to make fun of newspaper columnists and the like - Barney Frank? Yes. Crippled animals? Yes. But newspaper columnists? Rarely - though The Baron does have a deep-seeded distrust and allaround loathing of the journalistic community. Especially paperboys. "Leave my paper unbagged in the rain once more and I shove a stick in your spokes, kid!", he yells.

So this brings us to Daniel Schultz. A complete fool of a writer that happens to be allowed to spew idiocy from his paper pulpit. His latest work is about the race between the liberal activist Shirley Abrahamson and conservative Constitutionalist Randy Koschnick. BEHOLD HIS WISDOM!

Given Shirley Abrahamson's remarkable tenure on the Wisconsin Supreme Court (she was appointed by Gov. Patrick Lucey in 1976), you might be forgiven for thinking that re-electing her represents anything but change.

But that's what it boils down to.

To be clear, Abrahamson is not promising much in the way of new directions for the state's high court. In fact, in this very ideological age, Abrahamson can seem less than inspiring.

Wow! Sign me up! See, this is what we call "stupid". "Abrahamson represents change! Except that she has no new ideas and is really really boring." Already in the first 3 sentances he contradicts himself. Nice job Danny.

The next couple paragraphs gave me such a brain fart I almost puked from the smell:

Randy Koschnick seems to have done a decent job as a circuit judge in Jefferson County. But this should tell you everything you need to know about the challenger's campaign: He claims to be a judge "in the same mold" as U.S. Supreme Court Justices John Roberts, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas.
Roberts, Alito and Thomas are three of the best judges there are on the Court right now. They are CONSTRUCTIONISTS. Meaning: they let the Constitution decide the law of the land. You have just complimented Koschnick and you didn't even know it. Way to go Danny!

Indeed he is, with a constellation of ties to right-wing organizations such as the National Rifle Association, Wisconsin Right to Life and the Wisconsin Family Council. He's even shared a stage with Republican icons such as Samuel Wurzelbacher, a.k.a. Joe the Plumber, at conservative pep rallies.
That damn liberty-hating NRA! Wisconsin Right to Life? Who cares about dead babies anyways! But he goes on...

Here's how this play works: A crusading conservative runs against the courts as "out of the mainstream," "liberal" and "activist," perhaps "soft on crime" (all terms found on Koschnick's Web site). The subtext to all these attacks is the promise that the candidate will restore social order by standing up to permissive liberals on the courts.
OK. Danny. Do you know what Court Justices actually do? They have this thing called.. you know.. "The Constitution" that they're supposed to read and stuff before giving their rulings. Being a liberal activist on the Court's is like having a 400lb. food addict watch over a warehouse full of Oreo cookies all by himself. You can imagine the outcome.

Vote for a change on April 7.
By electing the judge who's been on the Court since 1976! Change, baby!

For an even better beatdown of Daniel Schultz and Shirley Abrahamson, read Michelle Johnstone's - an actual journalist who *gasp* researched before she wrote - column on the same topic.
