Weekend Drivel
I think it's fair to say that the Brewers have been cursed by George Bush Sr. and; more specifically, Barbara Bush. Or as I like to call her -Barbaro Bush- Hahahahaha...
What a kick in the nuts the Astros' series was.
Outside of Sheets, the Crew just doesn't have a SP that can consistently go 6 or 7+IP. I had incredible hope for Parra, but so far he looks like Dana Eveland(not good!) except not as fat. The Gallardo injury makes me want to cry. If either Parra or Villy or someone I'm not thinking of don't step up in the next month and a half or so I'd say Melvin has to take a serious look at trading some minor league pieces for a #1 or 2 SP.
As I posted at Brewerfan I think this particular year seems like a better than usual year to make a run for a front-line-type starter. The pieces we would trade would probably be of the Gamel or Escobar variety. I do not think they would trade LaPorta, as he is by far the most MLB ready hitter in our system and he would probably take over at 1B should the Crew ever trade Fielder down the road(PLEASE GOD LET IT NOT BE SO!!!).
The Crew has 6 of the first 62 picks so any significant prospects we would ship out could potentially be replaced very quickly. Trade for Lincecum!
