A SOLEMN FAREWELL

This goes out to a fallen man of battle, a soldier who must be left behind, a warrior with his shield shattered and his sword broken..to a Chevrolet Lumina that poured its heart, soul, and beautiful gaskets into the transportation of Death himself.

The glory began in the Summer of '05. The night before my driving test, the old Lumina decided I was not yet worthy to drive it, so it decided to break down and refused to allow its' tail lights to work. I was furious, but I understood my poor car's reasoning for this turn of events. I elected to drive my Grandmother's car, and passed with flying colors.

When I received that holy grail of driving, the Lumina greeted me in its' all teal glory. Shining like a silver knight on the eve of battle, I could almost hear the engine roaring as I slowly slid into the car. I almost felt unworthy holding so much glory between my fingertips. Turning the key, and listening to the Lumina respond was like a mother seeing its' infant for the first time -- the scene was magic.

And so for the next 3 years the Lumina served its' post to the best of its' abilities, through sleet and storm, through rain and shine. Falling in the ditch 3 times, breaking 2 head gaskets and replacing its' engine, the Chevrolet Lumina has definitely seen its' fair share of battles. Through it all, however, IT NEVER GAVE IN. Every time I turned that key, the Lumina roared to battle and a drag race with even the quickest of the quick. I think I could have drag raced Dodge Vipers in the 3.6L V6 Engine of the Blue Beauty.

And so, at this point of departure, old friend, I just want to let you know that you are appreciated. I love you like a brother, Chevrolet Lumina, and I wish I could love other people as much as I love you. Thank you for the memories, and rest in peace.
